Velmead Archers

The magic of archery can only be felt through actions, not explained through words.

We are a small, informal and friendly Archery Club based in Church Crookham/Fleet in North Hampshire.

Velmead Archers was formed in May 1994, following a series of beginners’ training courses run by John Izant under the auspices of Hart District Council. Initially named Velmead (Hart) Archers, it quickly lost the (Hart) to become Velmead Archers – taking its name from the sports field at which it was based. Velmead Archers continues to offer beginners’ courses, and occasional Have-a-go days, as well as regular shooting for members.

P1000803.JPGIn the summer, we shoot on Wednesday evenings at 6:00pm for 6:30pm and at 2:00pm for sighters on Sunday afternoons at the Zebon Copse sports field in Church Crookham. Please see the summer shooting schedule.

We warmly welcome visitors and are always on the look-out for new members. If you have shot before, we can offer the loan/hire of club equipment if you would like to give it another go. Members shoot either Recurve or Longbow.

This site is mostly focused on target recurve archery since that is the shooting choice of the overwhelming majority of club members.

Text that, if you pass your mouse over it, becomes underlined will take you somewhere if you click on it. Browse if you have time. There is some useful stuff for calculating sight marks etc on the Sights webpage.

Velmead Archers is affiliated to the County of Surrey Archery Association, and also to GNAS, the governing body of archery in the UK. At the start of the 2011 outdoor season, the club will move back to the Zebon Copse sports field, following the development of the site at Peter Driver.
